About & Stats

I’ve always been a “big” woman. When I swam on swim team in high school, working out for hours every week, I weighed between 135-145 (my weight fluctuates with my hormone cycle) and I wore a size 10-12 clothes. Of course, being the typical teenage girl, I thought I was sooooo fat.

What I wouldn’t give to go back and slap that “so fat” girl to knock some sense into her.

After my son was born, I weighed about 170 pounds and wore a size 12, and I was pretty happy with that weight. Over the years, I have gained a shocking 50 pounds. It sounds like such a huge number when I look at it like that. I’ve had some odd medical issues that have caused weight gain – once I gained almost 20 pounds in a month without changing my eating habits at all – and they can’t figure out what causes this. Most recently, I gained 10+ pounds in a short amount of time during the fall of 2006. I blame part of that on undereating, something I will do when my husband travels and I just don’t want to be bothered with cooking.

Now I am working on making sure I eat enough food to help my body lose weight. It all sounds so backwards, but I know it works for me. I did the Weight Watchers Flex Points plan a few years ago and lost over 10 pounds before I stopped going to the meetings. I joined again in December, 2006 and I am going to weekly meetings now, counting my points, and I am going to make it happen. My health depends on it.

    Hi,

I really enjoyed reading through your blog! Your thoughts really inspirational!

I recently purchased a fun product from a company called Simple Memory Art (www.SimpleMemoryArt.com ) called a 50 Healthy Foods magnet set. It’s a really cool item actually — it’s a magnet set that lists the major food groups, has them color coded in rainbow-like colors, and tells you everything about the food — vitamins, calories, grams of fat, protein, etc. It’s REALLY helpful and it makes my fridge look happier too!

From one woman to another trying to keep with a healthy lifestyle, I thought maybe you’d find it interesting!

    Have a great day!

    All the best,
    Marissa
